A morning in the life of Johnny

It has already been a long morning, and Johnny has done several things that are completely adorable and amusing.  I thought I'd share some random things that happened and a photo. :)

This kid has been into everything today, and he's been eating pretty continuously since he woke up this morning.  He's probably going through another growth spurt...people already point out how tall he is for his age when we're in stores.  I have no idea where he gets his height from either, because his daddy and I are *ahem* vertically challenged.

The photo above was taken about fifteen minutes ago when he decided to bring out a ton of his dinosaurs and dragons from his room and pile them onto the chair and then sit on them.  A chair piled high with dinosaurs and dragons is infinitely more comfortable, just in case you were wondering.  Now the toys are piled on the carpet around the chair and I'm sure that I'll be the one who has to clean those up *sigh*.
Lately Johnny has been fascinated with our hall closet.  He will walk over to it, open it, and then starting saying "bye" over and over again in a really cute voice and waving until we acknowledge him at least a dozen times by saying "bye" and waving.  Then he'll close himself in the closet and you'll hear "bye" in a sweet little voice every now and then from the closet.  After a minute he'll throw the door open and yell "ta-da!" with a huge grin on his face.  It is really cute.  This morning he kept doing his closet routine over and over for about 45 minutes (there is only so much waving one person can take) and then he decided to take his play phone in there with him randomly.  I could hear him talking to someone in there in his fairly animated toddler language...I wonder who he was talking to so secretly?

A little while after that, Johnny was playing with his dinosaurs and was making this big bumpy one with a long tail devour some of the smaller dinosaurs.  He was growling and getting intensely involved in the fight until the dinosaur tail accidentally whipped around and hit him above his eye.  Of course, to Johnny, that dinosaur attacked him.  Before I could even say anything to see if he was okay, he jumps up with the dinosaur and marches him over to The Corner (you know, the one for time outs...Johnny is always shocked when he gets put into time out in public places; I have to remind him that any corner can be used for that) and sits him down.  Then he proceeds to scold him in his little toddler language and then march off.  Surprisingly, that dinosaur behaved better in time out than my little boy who thinks he's a dinosaur ever does.  Imagine that.  After Johnny left his dinosaur in time out, he walked over to me and then started crying and rubbing the mark over his eye.  At least he has his priorities straight - discipline first, comfort later...?  Silly boy.  I had to stifle a laugh while I comforted him.  :)

Most of you know that my son is obsessed with dinosaurs, animals (particularly whales and elephants), cars, and robots.  A typical boy.  He also loves boxes and other random things that you wouldn't think was a toy or even all that interesting.  He's also been playing a lot with his Sesame Street connector sets.  As of late, he is particularly obsessed with his friend the vacuum (he loves to hug it and talk to it), an ice cream scoop, and a flashlight.  We recently got "Lilo & Stitch" on DVD through Netflix and we haven't been able to send it back because it has become Johnny's favorite movie.  I think the greatest frustration for him right now is he can't figure out if he would rather BE Stitch or OWN Stitch as a pet.  I wish that was the only thing I had to worry about! :)

His favorite thing to say right now is "Hi" followed by "Howareyou?" (bunched together like that, so that it almost sounds like he says "I love you" if you aren't familiar with how he talks).  He still loves to say "Ay' You" (I love you) to us a lot too.  Followed by wet little kisses.  As evidenced above, he also loves to say "bye" a lot too.  He has started to repeat words we say a lot more too: "socks", "pizza", "ice cream", "shoes", etc.  We're hoping that he is starting to warm up to talking on his own rather than always resorting to his toddler language.  His favorite food right now is whatever mommy is eating, organic frozen waffles, or organic cereal bars.  He loves the Iced Green Teas at Panera Bread and on the rare occasions that his daddy gets a Iced Green Tea Latte from Starbucks, he is obsessed with that as well.  At least there is minimal caffeine in the latte, since there isn't coffee, but still.  We try to remind ourselves that sharing that drink with daddy every now and then isn't that bad...we're good parents, right?

So, that has been Johnny's morning today.  Filled with lots of dinosaurs, food, and cute antics.  I'll keep you posted with other adorable things he does or mischief he gets into. :)

I just know he is calling "Papa" in that closet. The time out was adorable. Love, Mom
