As far as I know, Johnny has never really played with any train toys or been exposed to trains, so we were curious to see how he would react. To pretty much sum it up: he had a big smile and wanted to play with all the trains, even though he was tired. :) We're really glad we were able to go and expose him to trains. The museum itself wasn't really big, but it had a museum with exhibits about trains and lots of older & newer trains outside to look at. They also had a train you could ride, but we didn't take Johnny on that because he was getting tired and grumpy. We're thinking of maybe taking Johnny to the Thomas Day Out event with Thomas the Train in September at the Colorado Railroad Museum (even though it is super expensive), but if Johnny really starts to get into trains, it would be worth it! We're looking into getting him a sturdy wood train set for him to play with.
Here are some of our favorite pictures from our day looking at trains:

(in front of one of the trains outside)

(Johnny is showing his daddy the Johnny-sized train in the museum)

(my guys fascinated by an elaborate train village & moving train exhibit)

(don't be deceived by the snow on the ground - it was very warm outside)

(Johnny looks a little leery that high up on a train, doesn't he?)

Aw, so much fun!! My Elie loves trains. She would have lost her mind, she'd be so excited. Its always nice to go on a fun family adventures like that. Getting out of the house and doing new things is so good for the soul, especially during the cold winter.
I totally agree about getting out of the house and doing new things - it is the only thing that keeps me sane living so far from family & friends! :)
Jess, loved the pictures and it looks like it was a nice outing, but I would sure like to see more pictures of you with "little man". Every once in awhile, hand John the camera and tell him to be in charge of pictures for the day. Love you, Mom.
