Happy Birthday Grandma Peeps! :)

Today is my grandma's birthday - Happy Birthday!  We miss you tons and we love you very much. We hope you are having a fantastic day!  Wishing we could be there to celebrate with you. :)

My grandma with me as a baby - I was 5 days old, which means this was John's birthday! (We're exactly 5 days apart) late Feb 1987. I have this photo hanging above my craft desk with some other photos. I love it. :)

My grandma (her name is Galen, but she goes by Peeps to family - a nickname) is a wonderful and amazing person and I have always looked up to her and respected her a great deal.  She is my mother's mother and I am her oldest grand daughter, and we have always had a special bond.  I was very lucky to grow up with such a beautiful, strong, and intelligent woman as my grandmother.  She has been a loving and devoted wife to my grandfather for almost fifty years (this December) and has four children, including my mother.  She also has seven grandchildren, of which I am the oldest (and definitely spoiled :)).  Johnny is her only great-grandchild as of yet, and he is definitely spoiled as well and loved beyond measure.  My grandmother has spent a life raising a family and has worked a lot of years at H&R Block every year preparing tax returns for people, including us.  She is a hard worker, an amazing cook (seriously, I wish I was even one millionth as talented as her in the kitchen!), and is very devoted to her family.

My grandmother is always there to help her loved ones or friends when they need it.  She helped babysit Johnny for me when I was finishing up my college degree (as did my other grandma - I am so blessed to have two fantastic grandmothers!).  She always tries to help us out in any way she can and offer her support.  Her family members definitely know they are loved and looked after by her.  I remember going to basketball camp for a week when I was 12 or 13 and getting handwritten letters and gift packages with beef jerky and other snacks from her throughout the week.  I have many many memories throughout my life of me with my grandma: going out to lunch with her and my mom, spending the night at her house during the summer, her cheering me on at sports events, babysitting us, taking me shopping, Johnny's first Halloween, my wedding, when I was in labor with Johnny, a lot of great conversations, etc.  Many wonderful memories and I'm looking forward to many many more!  She has helped shape me into the woman that I am today - she always held me to be a person of integrity and compassion and to pursue my dreams no matter what.  I am a better person having had her in my life, and I think her strength has in turn made my mother strong and myself as well.  I have had some really terrific role models in my life - many within my family - and my grandma (well, grandmas actually - they are both great role models!) is definitely one of them. :) I think it is so neat that Johnny loves his great-grandmother so much as well and I am looking forward to the memories that he will have with her as he grows.  She is truly a remarkable woman and we love and admire her a great deal.  Thank you for all that you do, grandma!

We love you and just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday!  I hope you are having a great day and I am counting down the days until we get so see you again. :) I hope that next summer we'll be able to celebrate with you. :)  Happy Birthday! We love you!

Once again made me cry! This was the sweetest birthday gift you could have given her. I wish I had a printer set up so that I could take it to her. I will force them to come over soon so that she can see it and Grandpa can see his! Love you baby girl, Mom
